Doppler Positional Data and Geodetic survey data: Summary data: Relates to traverses undertaken during the period 1963 – 2012 from Casey to Law Dome, Wilkes Land region towards Vostok, eastern traverse towards Dumont d’Urville, Mawson to the Amery Ice Shelf and Prince Charles region, Mawson to Enderby Land, and Kemp Land coast.

Doppler summary sheets from field plus computation records (Department of Minerals and Energy / Division of National Mapping (NatMap) related to the JMR1 Analysis / Reduction task project.

Significant portions of the CSIRO Cyber7600 super computer output that was used for the final precise ephemeris reduction of the field Doppler observations.

Tellurometer and other required surveying data necessary to accurately determine 3-d positions of glaciological/geodetic observations.

Transformation parameters to re-define existing geodetic data in terms of a modern geodetic reference system (called International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) so that old to modern observations can be compared.

Conventions relating to data collected from stations:-
•    GW, GC, GF, GD stations - Casey to Law Dome traverses, and Wilkes Land (including Totten region) towards Vostok.
•    GF stations - Eastern traverse to Dumont d’Urville
•    GM stations – Multiple regions depending on locations by season year.
•    GE stations - Mawson to Enderby Land and Kemp Land coast.

This dataset compiles all relevant data from previous East Antarctic glaciological summer field campaigns, from 1963 to 2012. While the primary focus region of these campaigns was Wilkes Land area, including the Totten region, it also included regions named in the complete list of locations below. The data collection focused on positional data (Doppler associated with ground stations, GPS, gravity, survey data), and some summary folios. Some data is comprised of original Department of Minerals and Energy / Division of National Mapping (NatMap) records primarily related to the JMR1 Analysis / Reduction task project, and copies of significant portions of the CSIRO Cyber7600 super computer output used for the final precise ephemeris reduction of the field Doppler observations.

Related project 4506 is using this dataset as a data archaeology project aimed at compiling all relevant data from previous Antarctic summer field campaigns.

Statement: The data described here has been identified as high value when undertaken as a data recovery task of past Doppler, survey and gravity data. Scientific focus is on the Totten/Casey area to provide historic measurements in support of AAD, AAPP , ACEAS and SAEF upcoming research projects, as well as past and future satellite cryosphere missions, measuring the Antarctic ice sheet. Data contained can be reviewed in context with information from other AAD records, GA archives, and the National Australian Archives.
