Full description
Doomburrim State School (School No. 3428) (VA 5446) was a coeducational primary school located in the Parish of Doomburrim, in the West Gippsland region of Victoria. It first opened in 1902 out of small leased wooden building, and was worked part-time with Dumbalk South State School (School No. 3276). When Dumbalk South State School closed in 1904, Doomburrim was worked half-time instead with Meeniyan East State School (School No. 3240; later known as Buffalo State School) (VA 5447).
In 1909, Doomburrim State School became a full-time school and in 1911, it was proposed to build a new school. Two acres were acquired accordingly, and the new wooden school was completed in 1913.
Doomburrim State School was closed in 1945, and it is likely that the school building was removed in the following years and re-erected for West Tarwin Road State School (School No. 3405).
Note that Doomburrim may occasionally appear in records from the time as Doomburrin.
