Brief description Treatments for skeletal disorders (e.g. osteoporosis, bone destruction by cancer) are limited, partly because of our incomplete understanding of what makes bones strong. I study how bone strength, including both its shape and substance, is controlled by cells in the skeleton, and how this differs between men and women. Answering these fundamental questions about how strong skeletons are made will improve the way we diagnose and treat bone diseases.
