Brief description Diabetes is an epidemic disease. The major cause of death is due to heart damage and no cardiac specific therapies are available. In this project we investigate the role of glucose-related damage to the proteins which are key in regulating effective heart contraction and pump action and pursue new opportunities to measure these proteins as a blood biomarker of disease. The aim is to advance understanding of disease mechanisms and develop a strategy to diagnose cardiac glucose damage in diabetes.
