Brief description Aboriginal people with cancer experience worse outcomes than other Australians, yet the reasons for poorer survival remain to be fully understood. A system for tracking cancer outcomes in high-risk populations is an important target for reform. The SA Aboriginal Cancer Monitoring and Surveillance System, guided by Aboriginal people themselves. will enable better targeting and improvement of cancer services, strengthen advocacy, and indicate effectiveness of initiatives to reduce disadvantage.
