Brief description There is an urgent, unmet need for improved point of care (POC) tests for detection of sepsis, which affects > 30 million and kills >8 million people worldwide each year. We have developed a new method for analysis of CD64, a host biomarker that is up-regulated as part of the innate immune response in sepsis. This new method shows greatly improved sensitivity for detection of sepsis patients versus controls, and will form the basis for development of a simple, lateral-flow POC test for sepsis.
