Brief description Acute kidney injury (AKI) has both important short and long term clinical implications, particularly with regards to the risk of developing chronic kidney disease; and reduced survival time of a renal transplant. There are no established interventions to treat or reverse AKI other than supportive therapy at this current time. Dendritic cells orchestrate the acute inflammatory response in AKI, and area promising therapeutic target in the future.
