Data collated for the development and validation of the RQ7 model, used to generate statistics, figures and maps for analysis.Lineage: Building on the skills and lessons learned from an empirical model (Rim-FIM) and a simple conceptual model (TVD), the RQ7 model predicts flood inundation extent, depth, volume, and duration by leveraging remote sensing data, gauged streamflow, and high-resolution DEMs. The model has been validated against water extents derived from remote sensing and hydrodynamic modelling results for seven river reaches across the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB). It can be applied throughout the MDB to analyse the spatial and temporal characteristics of floodplain inundation under historical conditions and for scenario-based planning.
