On the 27th of February, 1079 Nepal's Crown Prince Birendra was married to Laxmi Devi Rana. These photographs represent the view from outside the Royal palace into which very few people were admitted. The public spectacle was truly remarkable and gifts for the royal couple were paraded through the streets along with those dignitaries who chose to walk to the palace rather than arrive by vehicle. This included almost all Nepalese who were aghast at the indignity of a motorized arrival and who arrived in more traditional methods.
