Brief description
This record describes the datasets obtained on Courageous Cruise 032. The data were obtained from the Great Australian Bight in March 1978. Data were obtained from acoustic and trawl surveys of pelagic and demersal fish. The predominant species out of a total of 92, of commercial interest were: Pilchard (Sardinops neopilchardus), Swallow tail (Trachichthodes lineatus), Red snapper (Trachichthodes gerrardi), Barracouta (Leionura atun), Hake (Rexa solandri), Deepwater flathead (Neoplatycephalus speculator), Jack mackerel (Trachurus declivis), Yellowtail (Trachurus mccullochi), Trevally (Usacaranx geopgimmia), Ruby fish (Plagiogeneion macroleas), Jackass fish or morwong (Nemadactylus macropterus), Knife jaw (Ostorhinchus conwaii), Snapper (Chrysophrys unicolour), Blue morwong, (Nemadactylus valenciennesi) and Chinaman leatherjacket (Navodon ayraud). Length, numbers, and weight were determined. Bathymetric data between the 100 and 400 metre depth contour were also obtained from the survey area.
