Simon Perrys work 'Conveyor' was selected for the peer reviewed, international ,Constellations exhibition held at highly regarded The RMIT Gallery, Storey halll, and part of the international conference Drawing Out. an important international event. The exhibition attracted 11,405 visitors and was featured in the National press and art journals. The venue has a significant, natioanl and international reputation. And hosts a number of important exhibitions featuring some of the most important internation artists and designers. Perry's work 'Converyor' was created using the computer program Micro softword Word. It is part a body of work that investigates how new and seemingly every day technologoies can be used by artists to create works that challenge conventional ideas around the production of art works. The artwork makes reference to early 20thcentury Soviet propaganda posters, in particular those relating to space exploration. It can be read as a technological, a social and a poetic mechanism and represents a continuation of Perry's research interests in ideas relating to Utopia/Dystopia, Culture and Tecnology, the fixed and mobile, history and the future.Issued: 2010-01-01
