Adelaide University is a comprehensive, research-intensive university based in Adelaide, South Australia, created through the merger of the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia - formally established in January 2026. It combines the long-standing research tradition and academic strengths of Australia’s third oldest university with the applied, industry-connected focus of South Australia’s largest tertiary institution.

The new university is a member of Australia’s Group of Eight and aspires to be among the world’s leading research and education hubs, with a diverse student community, global partnerships, and a strong emphasis on innovation and societal impact.
