Brief description Patients undergoing organ transplants or chemotherapy for cancer are susceptible to infections caused by fungi. Hospital outbreaks of fungal infections related to construction have occurred. Monitoring of these infections is required due to their considerable heath and economic costs. We aim to build a computerised system allowing for the real-time identification of fungal infections, leading to improved outcomes for patients, early recognition of hospital outbreaks and cost-savings.
