Compound climate events threaten tropical semi-enclosed marine ecosystems
Lineage: This DAP is the primary repository for data underpinning the figures in the published manuscript Plaganyi et al. 2026 "Compound climate events threaten tropical semi-enclosed marine ecosystems". The Data for the paper’s figures in the main text and supplementary materials are available here, as is access to the full cyclone history database collated and analysed by Rob Kenyon (CSIRO) – please acknowledge the source of these data if used. Selected relevant code is also provided below.

Other environmental driver datasets are publicly available (mostly derived from http://www.bom.gov.au/) as is mean sea level data which were accessed from the National Oceanography Centre’s Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level https://psmsl.org/data/

The data for the river system models are available at: https://nawra-river.shinyapps.io/river/. Full details of the data, code, web-based apps and technical reports for the Roper River are available at: https://www.csiro.au/en/research/natural-environment/water/Water-resource-assessment/Roper-River-Water-Resource-Assessment/Roper-report

The sources of the data shown in Fig. 2 are listed in Table S3.

The Torres Strait prawn catch and effort data are available at:
https://www.pzja.gov.au/torres-strait-fisheries/torres-strait-prawn-fishery/torres-strait-prawn-fishery-data-summary

The annual data shown in Fig. 2 for fishery species are available in this CSIRO repository. Permission to obtain finer scale raw fisheries data needs to be granted by the relevant data custodians: Commonwealth Australian Fisheries Management Authority and NPFI (under co-management arrangements NPFI is the delegate) for Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) data, as well as relevant State Fisheries Departments from both the Queensland and Northern Territory jurisdictions for mud crabs. Data access contacts and request numbers can be provided on request to CSIRO (per this DAP), and raw model data input files will also be provided subject to relevant data agreements being in place. In cases where data presented in the figures are based on previously published studies and reports, the sources are cited in the text.

The Torres Strait tropical rock lobster survey data and associated habitat monitoring data (including seagrass and corals) are collected and stored by CSIRO and a separate link is provided below to
“Torres Strait research data”.

The MICE and stock assessment model outputs shown in Fig. 2 are available in this CSIRO data repository, for the Torres Strait tropical rock lobster, NPF brown and grooved tiger prawns, Gulf of Carpentaria common banana prawn, Gulf of Carpentaria mud crabs, Joseph Bonaparte Gulf redleg banana prawn as well as seagrass and mangrove relative biomass. The stock-recruitment residuals for NPF tiger prawns showing Fig. 3 are also provided together with the code used to test for a regime shift, based on the method summarised in: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/rshift/vignettes/STARSmanual.pdf
