Brief description The incidence of cancer of the oesophagus has been increasing. Surgery is morbid and patients have an increased risk of developing major complications such as infections. This study will compare the use of a specialised nutritional supplement to another supplement, before and after surgery, in patients with oesophageal cancer to assess their effect on reducing the incidence of complications. If this research is successful it will improve patient outcomes and reduce health care costs.
