The Companies Auditors Board was established in 1961.The functions of the Board were to: · report to the Minister on any matters relating to the operation of Part IV (matters relating to shares, debentures and charges) which the Board has investigated · to effect and control the registration of company auditors and liquidators (1). Members of the Public Accountants Registration Board constituted the Companies Auditors Board. Registered public accountants could apply to the Board to be registered as liquidators. The Board could refuse to register any person who was not resident in the State or in another State or Territory of the Commonwealth (2). The Companies Auditor's Board was a separate entity from the Public Accountant's Registration Board, but for practical purposes the administrative and financial operations of the two were merged. (3) In 1982 the Board was abolished when the Companies Act, 1961 was repealed by the National Companies and Securities Commission (State Provisions) Act. NOTES (1) Companies Act No.71, 1961.
