This project is responsible for the efficient management of the monthly catch and effort returns provided by all commercial fishing boat licence holders. The information supplied by the fishers includes data on the composition, quantity and location of catches taken during the month and the amount of fishing effort. Project staff check and enter returns and summarise these data to enable reports to be prepared for use by other research groups and for direct input into the Department's Annual Report and State of Fisheries and local, state and federal agencies including Department of Industry and Resources, ABARE.
