The works exhibited challenged the audience's relationship with interior spaces and interrogated the defining properties of perception. The exhibition as a whole sought to highlight compelling approaches toward the manipulation of our physical environment and to contend the actions that constitute contemporary spatial art and design. McLeod's 'Column' denotes one of a family of 'philosophical objects' that contemplate the archetypal relationship between sound and form. The two vertical aluminium sentinels, positioned in intimate proximity to each other, are proportioned so as to resonate with mathematical precision to the frequencies of the sounds waves channelled through them. RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION: Column represents an important progression in Mcleod's thinking around the relationship of sound, form and space. This research stream is his ongoing exploration into the relationship 'between field and form' and has involved collaborations with prominent sound artists and acousticians. This ongoing research has resulted in two conference papers 'Mining the Urban Unconscious: Occupation Conference; Brighton, 2010' and 'Field [A]ffects: Immaterial Materialities; Sydney, 2012.' The discoveries found in gallery based sculptural works such as Column inform the broader practice of Interior Design and the use of sensorial phenomena in shaping of spatial experience. RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE: BUS Projects is a prestigous Artist Run Initiative, funded by the Victorian State Government, through Arts Victoria. Exhibition proposal are selected by a curatorial board (see http://busprojects.org.au/people/). A catalogue documenting and contextualising the works in the exhibition was also produced.&rft.creator=Ross McLeod&rft.date=2014&rft_rights= https://rightsstatements.org/page/InC/1.0/&rft_subject=Architectural design&rft_subject=Not Assigned&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data
