The coastal building line assists in maintaining a development-free buffer zone where coastal processes can occur naturally without the need for property protection works that can be costly and detrimental to sound coastal management outcomes.
Coastal plan coastal management district - Coastal management districts are declared under the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995 (Coastal Act). Coastal management districts are also referenced under the Planning Regulation 2017 to trigger assessable development and the referral of certain development application types to the Department of State Development Manufacturing Infrastructure and Planning.
