Drawing on the success of the acclaimed 1993 Oxford University Press publication ('Cities of Hope: Australian Architecture and Design by Edmond and Corrigan 1962-92') the book includes a facsimile of the highly-prized original book, a catalogue of new architectural works and a showcase of rare or previously unpublished theatre works as well as archival letters and articles. RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION: 'Cities of Hope Re-Membered' is a substantial (650 pages) and rigorous review of five decades of Edmond & Corrigan's internationally respected, RAIA Gold Medal-winning practice. Two publications encase a reprint of Hamman's 1993 monograph. The first is about the firm's most recent architectural work (including Building 8, RMIT and the School of Drama at Victorian College of the Arts), the other is on theatre design. As well as being the subject of the book, Corrigan contributed to the text by collaborating with the book designers, Chase and Galley, on the design and by supplying commentary and ephemera. RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE: This beautiful monograph documents the significant legacy created by the work of Edmond & Corrigan, particularly Corrigan's 'ability to inspire'. The book featured on Radio National's By Design (31 October 2012). In 'Architecture Australia' Rory Hyde said the firm's work had created 'a unique culture that is generous, inclusive, brave, diverse, exuberant'. (Rory Hyde, Architecture Australia, March 2013, issue 2). Other reviews include David Neustein in 'Australian Design Review', April 11, 2013; Ray Edgar, 'The Age' and 'SMH' 28 September 2012 and Architect Victoria, Spring 2012.&rft.creator=Conrad Hamann&rft.creator=Leonardus van Schaik&rft.creator=Peter Corrigan&rft.creator=Vivian Mitsogianni&rft.creator=Winsome Callister&rft.date=2012&rft_rights= https://rightsstatements.org/page/InC/1.0/&rft_subject=Architectural design&rft_subject=Not Assigned&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data
