Full description

The dataset includes processed data spreadsheets for each test, where each test is labelled with the specimen ID and test label. Files are in .xlsx format.

The test label (filename) contains three components, separated by underscores, consistent with the manuscript nomenclature:

1) End condition (FC, RC, UC) [fully constrained; rotationally constrained, unconstrained]

2) Eccentricity group (000, 050, 100) [in %]

3) Velocity (e.g. ID01_FC_000_1ms -> Specimen 1, fully constrained, low eccentricity, 1 m/s). [all tests in this dataset were performed at 1 m/s impact velocity]

Refer to the column headers for the order of the kinematics and kinetic data.

Units: time (s), force (N), moment (Nm), translation (mm), rotation (deg).

Specimens IDs, and all experimental details, correspond to those detailed in the following manuscript:

D.W. Thompson-Bagshaw, R.D. Quarrington, P.A. Cripton, C.F. Jones, Cervical spine posture, but not head-end motion constraints, governs the kinematic and kinetic response in sub-injurious axial impacts. Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2025, 107321, doi.org/10.1016/j.jmbbm.2025.107321.

Please cite this manuscript and this dataset, when using the data.
