The primary purpose of the observation system is to collect and store observation and measurement data and publish this data for researchers, industry, government and the public. It uses the ISO19156 and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Observations and Measurements (O&M) conceptual model to store field and laboratory environmental data in a domain-independent structure. It is operational through several soil and land projects and initiatives of the Centre for eResearch and Digital Innovation, Federation University, and their land use and management research, government and farming system partners.
