Brief description Pelvic organ prolapse is a hidden, debilitating gynaecological disorder affecting 25% of women causing sexual, bladder and bowel dysfunction. Prolapse is the herniation of the uterus, bladder, or bowel into the vagina as a result of childbirth injury. Surgical treatment often fails and the use of vaginal mesh has been banned due to unacceptable side effects. We are developing a cell-based therapy using a woman’s own endometrial stem cells to repair the damaged tissue.
