The Burrowa Court of General and Quarter Sessions was established on 19 October, 1866 (1). The Burrowa Court of General and Quarter Sessions was placed in the Southern District under the Courts District structure (which was based on Police Districts) where it stayed until about 8 November 1868 (2) when it was transferred to the South Western District. It is noted that the Burrowa Court was listed as abolished to Yass (3) however a date for Burrowa Quarter Sessions hearings is listed for 18 July 1871 (4). The Burrowa Court was transferred from the South Western Division to the Southern Division in 1874 (5) and back to the South Western Division in 1876 where it remained until 1904.(6) The role of the Court of Quarter Sessions was to hear less serious criminal cases. The dates of hearings at the Burrowa Court were proclaimed in the NSW Government Gazette. Proclamations of Hearings at the Burrowa Court of General and Quarter Sessions do not appear after 5 December 1904 (7). Endnotes:(1) NSW Government Gazette 26 June 1866 p.1500
