Full description

Bung Bong State School No. 1056 opened on 27 May 1872.

The primary school was located on a gazetted site at the junction of two roads adjacent to the Church of England.

The school was created to replace an existing non-vested Church of England school No. 106 which had operated in the town since 27 January 1862. The school was well-attended, with an average attendance of around 50 students, leading the District Inspector to recommend a government school.

Due to falling enrolments, Bung Bong became a temporary unclassified school. In 1894 the school closed, and students attended the nearest school Moore’s Flat State School No. 1575. It reopened on 10 February 1916.

Bung Bong Primary School closed again permanently on 10 April 1921.
