Brief description

Landmark Ecological Services Pty Ltd (Landmark) was engaged by the Nature Conservation Council (NCC) to conduct fine-scale mapping of vegetation, at Boorabee and The Willows, an Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) on the Severn River in the Northern Tablelands. Initial air photo interpretation (API) had previously been undertaken by the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) for Willows-Boorabee, including identification of recommended ground truthing points. The OEH mapping provided a base-map with lineworkbased on obvious patterns in vegetation detected during API. NCC then contracted Landmark to undertake the ground-truthing, further air interpretation and final production of the maps for this project.

Boorabee and The Willows IPA is approximately 2752 ha in area and is located approximately 45km north-west of Glen Innes and 12 kilometres from Emmaville on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. Willows and Boorabee are divided by the Severn River with Boorabee to the west. The soils are mainly derived from Emmaville Volcanics with a smaller area to the east of Willows derived from Webbs Consols Leucogranite. The properties range in elevation from 700m to 840 m ASL.
