Significance

Bob Phillips started collecting television memorabilia when he began his TV career at Melbourne's GTV9 as a film editor in 1959. He moved to live television, first as a production assistant, then working his way up to floor manager for Graham Kennedy's In Melbourne Tonight. He continued to build the collection over the next 20 years, as well as going on to produce many Australian favourites such as The Graham Kennedy Show, The Mike Walsh Show, Hey Hey It's Saturday and a number of other Nine productions. After leaving the industry, Mr Phillips opened TV World, a museum dedicated to the preservation of Australia's TV history. His collection was acquired by ACMI in 2006
