The Blackburn East Primary School was established in 1958 on a 5 acre site between Bindy and Vicky Streets, South Blackburn and initially enrolled 199 students.
Enrolments continually increased until in 1971 where they numbered 727 students. This increase in pupil numbers necessitated more classrooms being built. However, numbers plateaued from that time and then declined in line with demographic changes in the area.
The school was closed in 1993 with the school site becoming a new housing estate.
