This data was generated for a text analysis for the field of conservation genetics and genomics. On the 22nd of December 2022, we used a Boolean expression designed to capture the breadth of research published on conservation genomics a search titles, keywords, and abstracts in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science Core Collection indexer. Our search terms were as follows: Topics=(geno* OR "gene" OR genet* OR *DNA* OR epigenet* OR RNA OR chromosom* OR transcriptom* OR exom* OR "exon" OR inbre* OR outbreed* OR outbred* OR "local* adapt*" OR "linkage disequilibrium" ) AND (conserv* OR management OR policy OR endangered OR threatened)) AND (Web of Science category=("Multidisciplinary Sciences" or "GENETICS HEREDITY" OR "PLANT SCIENCES" OR "ECOLOGY" OR "EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY" OR "ZOOLOGY" OR "BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION" OR "BIOLOGY"))). This original data is supplied. The data was subsequently reviewed manually to determine its relevance based on title and abstract, and is available as the final dataset. F For this final dataset, a modified version of the approach of Bowmen et al (2016) to assess impact outside academia. This used a web-scraping script to search government websites for the titles of the research articles in the corpus and count the number of possible applications.
