Full description

Bet Bet State School No. 1661 opened on 18 March 1876.

The primary school was originally run out of the Bet Bet Inn, located on the north side of the Bet Bet Creek.

A permanent location on Cambridge Street was gazetted in 1877, consisting of Allotments 2 and 3 of Section 5, Township of Bet Bet. However, there was no building on the site until 1887, when the portable school from Walmer North State School No. 2264 was relocated there. It was used from the beginning of 1888.

A new, permanent building was constructed and first used on February 1913. This was necessitated by increasing enrolments.

Bet Bet primary school closed permanently at the end of 1948. The students were transferred to Maryborough State School No. 404.
