Barwon Downs (Primary School No.2866)

Barwon Downs Primary School (No. 2866) was established in 1888 at 1595 Birregurra-Forrest Road, Barwon Downs and initially enrolled up to 20 students.

In 1914, a new building was erected to replace the original building that was built in 1887. The new timber school was officially opened by the Hon. J.F. Rossiter MLA on the 20 March 1965.

In 1969 there were 39 students enrolled at the school.

Barwon Downs Primary School was closed in 1993 with the school site becoming the District Fire Brigade headquarters of the Country Fire Authority.
