Brief description

The objective of the research reported in this thesis was to develop a technique to monitor the dynamics of sediments and nutrients entering the coastal ocean with river plumes associated with high intensity low frequency events (e.g. floods), using ocean colour remote sensing. The data collected included surface salinity, turbidity, Secchi disk and meteorology parameters.

Lineage

Maintenance and Update Frequency: notPlanned
Statement: Measurements were made at the surface, 1m, 2m and 4m depth.
Statement: Salinity and Turbidity by Horiba hand-held digital meter; Niskin Bottle for depths; Kestrel hand-held meteorology parameters; E-trex GPS on WSG84 Coordinates.

Purpose
During the 7-20 February 2004 field trip to Lucinda Jetty a number of sediment-related measurements were undertaken to study flood-induced suspended sediment transport in the Herbert River mouth and adjacent coastal waters. The data collected included salinity, turbidity, secchi disk and meteorology parameters.
