Full description

The Sheriff of the Supreme Court is responsible for the enforcement and execution of Supreme Court Writs and Orders and the control and direction of civil warrants. Bailiffs from the Sheriff's Office executed writs in Melbourne and in the major court districts. In country Victoria, including remote areas the senior police constable was the official bailiff and was charged to execute writs.

This series contains the details of writs issued to bailiffs and execution by bailiffs of warrants, mainly of fieri facias (fi.fa).* Details given are the number of the warrant, date received, nature of writ and number of action, name/s of the attorney, name of plaintiff and defendant, amount of the writ, documents relating to the case and bailiff's report of progress of execution.
