Brief description
This map provides soil types across NSW using the Australian Soils Classification at Order level. It uses the best available soil resource mapping coverage incorporating over 55 different datasets of multiple scales across NSW. Hence the published scale of this linework between 1:100,000 - 1:250,000 depending on the dataset it originated from. Further details about these datasets are discussed in the 'Lineage', 'Positional accuracy' and 'Attribute accuracy' sections of the metadata.\r\n\r\nIt was derived from a lookup table system linking a Great Soil Group classification soil type to a most appropriate Australian Soil Classification (ASC) class for each mapping unit. (see table 1 in data package). \r\n\r\nIndividual map units have been grouped and dissolved according to the Soil Type field to produce the final map.\r\n\r\n__Online Maps:__ This dataset can be viewed using eSPADE (NSW’s soil spatial viewer), which contains a suite of soil and landscape information including soil profile data. Many of these datasets have hot-linked soil reports. An alternative viewer is the SEED Map ; an ideal way to see what other natural resources datasets (e.g. vegetation) are available for this map area.\r\n\r\n__Reference:__ Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, 2020, _Australian Soil Classification (ASC) Soil Type map of NSW_, Version 4, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Sydney.Full description
