Australian Film and Television Press Kit Collection

This is a collection of Australian press kit materials held at the AFI Research Collection. The collection is focused mainly on Australian film though there are some listings for Australian television shows as well. The press kits themselves are normally a document that lists a films cast and crew with plot summary of the film and some background on the main cast and crew. Some press kits are more elaborate than others with some including colour pics, and folders. The press kits have historically been issued to journalists writing on film and are normally created by the films production company, or distributor, or outsourced to a promotions company. The press kits are held within the AFI Research Collection, normally as part of the Title Clippings file section. These have been collected since the 1970s. The majority of these items have been accessioned into the AFI Research Collection via donations from film critics.
