Full description
This is a collection of materials in the AFI Research Collection about Drama Television production in Australia. The importance of Drama Television in Australia has been stated by many as one of the predominant ways of allowing Australia's own stories to be broadcast, which in turn allows actors and crew who work within the medium to continue working, which in turn helps to strengthen Australia's production industry (both television and cinema). The Australian government has imposed a quota on Australian drama television as a way to ensure that Australian shows are produced, which is done in the face of the pressure from Australian television stations who can access cheaper shows from overseas. The Drama Television in Australia collection contains different items pertaining to Australian drama television shows (including such genres as Soaps, Mini Series, and Police Dramas). Much of the material within the collection are clippings files, books, book chapters, stills, and ephemera.User Contributed Tags
