The baseline AusDiab study was conducted in 1999-2000 (baseline)and 2005 (follow-up) to determine the prevalence of diabetes, obesity and other risk factors including hypertension and dyslipidaemia.

Stratified sample of adults 25 and over residing in 42 randomly chosen Census Collector Districts across the six States and the Northern Territory.
