Full description

We propose long-term monitoring of a newly discovered long-period radio transient, ASKAP J1839-0756. This source has a rotation period of 6.45 hours with emission characteristics reminiscent of typical pulsars. Due to its long period, only 30 pulses have been detected since its discovery on 2024-01-26, making accurate measurement of its spin-down rate difficult. By collecting more pulse times of arrival data in this observation, we aim to improve the upper limit of the period derivative by a factor of 8. The proposed observations will enable the estimation of key physical parameters such as spin-down luminosity and surface magnetic field and support studies of the evolution of pulse morphology and flux density.
