This includes doing initial observations of BIGCAT verification fields with CABB to provide baseline observing tests that will then be repeated once BIGCAT is installed on the telescope. BIGCAT; the Broadband Integrated Gpu Correlator for ATca is a major upgrade that will replace the entire digital backend of CSIRO's ATCA (Australia Telescope Compact Array) and double the available bandwidth from 4 to 8 GHz. This new backend will provide better continuum sensitivity, wider velocity coverage as well as much more flexibility for spectral line setups.
