Brief description
Katherine Belov is Associate Professor in Animal Genetics within the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney. Associate Professor Belov's research focuses on the evolution of the adaptive immune system, comparative genomics, marsupial and monotreme genomics, marsupial and monotreme immune genes, MHC diversity and conservation, and the genetics of Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD). DFTD is a contagious cancer that affects native Tasmanian Devil populations. Associate Professor Katherine Belov is part of the multi-disciplinary team that won the 2011 Eureka Prize for Environmental Research for their research into Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease.
