Brief description

Argo is a global array of 3,000 free-drifting profiling floats that measures the temperature and salinity of the upper 2000 m of the ocean. Floats cycle to 2000m depth every 10 days, with 4-5 year lifetimes for individual instruments. This allows continuous monitoring of the climate state of the ocean. This dataset is updated weekly from the Argo Global Data Assembly Center (GDAC) in Monterey California. Data are publically available in near real-time after an automated quality control (QC), and in scientifically quality controlled form, delayed mode data, within six months of collection.
