Brief description From Data-Hungry to Data-Smart: Efficient, Safe and Adaptive Robot Learning. This project aims to create the next generation of learning robots, enabling robots that can learn new skills from a few human demonstrations, adapt to new situations, and respond safely when unexpected events occur. It addresses key knowledge gaps, as current systems require large amounts of data and struggle in changing real-world environments. The project will deliver open-sourced implementations of new mathematical models and algorithms that make robot learning more data-efficient, safe, and adaptable. This will benefit Australia by advancing reliable and more capable robotics for homes, hospitals, agriculture, and industry, supporting productivity, safety, and sovereign capability.
