Full description

Antwerp Primary School was originally opened as Antwerp West on 13 May 1897. The school was first located in the limestone Church of England in Antwerp.

By 1891 the school was known as Antwerp South, and was worked part-time between 1891 and 1893 with Katyil State School No. 2766.

The Department of Education gazetted a site for the school in Allotment 5 Section B Township of Antwerp, Parish of Kaytil. In 1902 a building was relocated from Dart Dart to what was then known as Antwerp School.

In 1909 a new building was constructed after parents kept their children home as a protest to the Department that the school was overcrowded.

Antwerp Primary School closed permanently in 1981 due to decreasing enrolments.

Data time period: [1891 TO 1981]
