Prof Amanda Vera Ellis
Prof. Amanda Ellis is currently a Australian Research Council Future Fellow and Academic at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She graduated with a Ph.D (Applied Chemsitry) from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2003. She then undertook two postdocs in the USA, including Rensselaer Polytechnic Instituteand New Mexico State University. After these she returned to New Zealand as a prestigious Foundation of Research Science and Technology Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Industrial Research Ltd (now Callaghan Innovations). In 2006 Amanda commenced at Flinders University, Australia as a teaching/research academic. Since 2017 she is now at the University of Melbourne in the Department of Chemical Engineering. She has secured over $20 M in funding from the ARC and non-ARC sources on projects involving novel polymer coatings, functionalised carbon nanotubes, microfluidics, water treatment, genotyping and DNA nanotechnology. Currently, she is on the Board of the Royal Australia Chemical Institute (RACI) National Polymer Division and the Membrane Society of Australasia and is a co-founder and executive member of the Australia & New Zealand Micro/Nanofluidics group.
