The Alexandra Timber Tramway Museum holds a number of significant early trains relating to the timber and sugar industry in Victoria and Queensland. Its collection includes eight operational locomotives, one kilometre of track and a refurbished station building. This includes: John Fowler 0-6-0T 11885 built in 1909 and used at Johnson, Isis and Gin Gin sugar mills; Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 1098, tender locomotive built in Leeds in 1915 and worked on Childers sugar mill; Kelly & Lewis 0-6-0DM 4271 built by Geo. W. Kelly & Lewis Pty Ltd of Springvale, Melbourne in 1935, this was the first diesel locomotive to be built in Victoria; one of ninety-two Malcolm Moore V8 locomotives designed and constructed for the Australian Army in 1943, No. 1049 was sold by the Department of Supply to the State Electricity Commission of Victoria where it was probably used on one of the construction railways of the Kiewa hydro-electric scheme in the 1950s; Motor Rail "Simplex" 4wDM 10058 built in 1948 by Marfleet & Weight for the State Rivers & Water Supply Commission’s Tarago aqueduct tunnel (used for the supply of water to the Mornington Peninsula), also used after 1957 by Cheetham Salt Limited at the Laverton salt works.Notes
