A proposal to unite the Municipalities of Kiama, Gerringong and Jamberoo was proclaimed on 26 February 1954 in the Government Gazette. (1)
On 1 July 1954, the Municipality of Gerringong, Municipality of Jamberoo (Borough of Kiama) and Municipality of Kiama (Borough of East Kiama) were amalgamated to form the new Municipality of Kiama, Kiama Municipal Council [II]. (2)
The number of aldermen constituting the Kiama Municipal Council was decreased from fifteen to nine on 13 June 1956. (3)
