Full description

In October 1862, the police stables at Billabong were moved to Ten Mile Creek in anticipation of transferring the Police Station there. (1) The Ten-Mile Creek Police Station in the Murray District was established by 1 December 1863. The original station staff comprised one Senior Constable and a Mounted Constable. (2) The Station was known as Germanton by 1 January 1881.(3)

On 27 March, 1886 the station was proclaimed as one in which the Police Act, 1838 (2 Victoria Act No. 2) as amended was applicable. (4) The Act aimed at preventing certain nuisance behaviours and promoting good order and safety by declaring as offences obstructions in public places and enforcing building standards. The town limits were also set on this date. (5) By 1871 the area covered by the Ten Mile Creek Station was estimated to be over five hundred square miles. (6)

The Germanton town limits were altered from 20 February 1895 (7) and 9 May 1895 (8)

Germanton was re-named Holbrook under the Crown Lands Consolidation Act, 1913 on 8 September 1915 (9) after which the station was known as Holbrook Police Station.
