Tamworth Fire Brigade was established as a voluntary brigade on 14 September 1878. The station was first located in Fitzroy Street near the Post Office and later moved to Marius Street at the corner of White Street, Tamworth. The brigade was disbanded and re-formed in 1899 at the behest of the Fire Brigades Board and the fire station was moved to Carthage Street, Tamworth by the 1920s. (1)
Tamworth Fire Station's first motor engine was installed on 14 October 1919. (2)
Tamworth Fire Station was allocated station number 452. The station was manned by retained (on-call) firefighters. (3)
In 2021 Tamworth Fire Station was situated in the Region North (3) Zone and its address was 103 Carthage Street, Tamworth. Its staff continued to be on-call. (4)
There were separate stations at West Tamworth (station 508) from 1969 to 2020 and South Tamworth (station 448) from 2020. (5)
