Full description
The Minda Children's Court was established by the Child Welfare Act, 1939. The role of the Court was to hear and determine cases of offences committed by or against children. The Minda Childrens' Court was established by 1966. (1)
Under provisions 84 and 87 of the Child Welfare Act 1939, Minda Children's Court became a court of review on 24 July 1974. (2)
Under the Children's Court Act 1987 (Act No.53, 1987) Minda Children's Court, Rookwood Road, Lidcombe was proclaimed on 15 January 1988 as a place at which any Magistrate sitting may exercise the jurisdiction of the Children's Court of New South Wales. (3) This proclamation was revoked with effect from 27 April 1992, in effect removing Minda as a place where the jurisdiction of the Children's Court may be exercised. (4)
