Full description

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB), the precursor to the NSW Fire Brigades, was established on 14 February 1884. (1) 

The temporary Headquarters of the Fire Brigades Board was set up in Bathurst Street in 1884 until No. 1 Fire Station, Headquarters was opened in 1888 on a site in Castlereagh Street on the west side between Bathurst and Liverpool Streets. (2)

Construction of a new station was completed in February 2003. (3)

In 2016 City of Sydney Fire Station was part of Area Command Metropolitan East and Zone Metropolitan East 1 – Sydney East . In 2016 its address was 211-217 Castlereagh Street, Sydney. (4)
